Armed Robbers Unleash Mayhem In Bariga During Salah Holiday

Monday, 28th of July, 2014 will remain a bizarre day for some residents of Popoola and Ore-ofe Streets, in Bariga area of Lagos State as heavily armed, robbers took advantage of the festive period to unleash mayhem in the area.

The area which is known for its tight security was invaded by robbers on Monday night during the Eid-el-Fitri celebration causing terrible havoc despite the rain that fell almost all day.


Vanguard reports that the robbery operation took over three hours. The armed robbers attacked residents, stabbing at least three people during the raid.

The robbers reportedly who took time to burgle shops, supermarkets, smashing windscreens of cars parked, while carefully avoiding houses were they could be caught by security.


The robbers reportedly carted away valuables including money, phones, laptops etc while a 25 year old man was said to have received a machete cut- parting gift from the armed robbers. He was said to have sustained injury to his head and back but was quickly taken to a nearby hospital immediately the robbers left.


Residents allegedly complained that they did not get help from Pedro Police Division, in spite of the several calls made to the police station during the robbery attack. 

According to Vanguard, a  Police source claimed that policemen were drafted to the streets where the armed robbers attacked as soon as they got the distress call. It would be recalled that recently, hoodlums suspected to be cult members, attacked residents of Akoka, Lagos State robbing them of their valuables.
