Lokoja Local Government Student Leaders Moves to Combat Exam Failure in the Area

National Association Of Lokoja Local Government Students (NALLGS National) being the highest student body in Lokoja Local Government, Under the leadership of Comrade Abdullahi Bababudan has for the past 3 weeks distinguishing itself amongst other students bodies in Kogi State by their vocational tutorial class currently ongoing at Local Government Secondary School, Kabawa, Lokoja. The tutorial class which started 3weeks ago drew students and teachers from different Schools in Lokoja.

An interview with the president of the Association, Comrade Abdullahi Bababudan states that, the need to organise the tutorial was to curb the spate of massive failure amongst secondary school students in their O’Level examination. Drawing instances from the just released West African Examinations Council’s result, he said less than 40% of the entire students that registered for the examination passed. He said this kind of challenges gave birth to the tutorial. He further added that students of this generation requires constant tutorial to keep them with paste with their academics, also that the tutorial will further help the school teachers simplify their job of teaching and also make school work easier for the participants. 

He however stated that, lack of funding posted lots of challenges to the association in organising the tutorial as the executive members had to task themselves to mobilise teaching materials and some of the teachers volunteered to teach for no fee. He said, the tutorial wouldn’t have been successful if the Principal of Local Government Secondary School, Kabawa, Lokoja, Kogi State had not given to the union classrooms for the program and the teachers and youths of Lokoja whom volunteered to help in making this tutorial a success.
