Smart Adeyemi Will Never Return to National Assembly – Tunde Olusunle

Ahead of the 2015 general election, there are strong indications that the political gladiators in Yagba Federal Constituency would not leave any stone unturned in their bid to produce the next Senator that would represent Kogi West Senatorial District at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.

Speaking to journalists in Ogidi, Chief Tunde Olusunle, described the efforts of the incumbent Senator to return to the Senate for the third term as efforts in futility, noting that the Yagba people are well prepared to clinch on what belong to them.

The veteran Journalist turned politician berated the purported endorsement of the serving senator by few individuals who eat from him as a mockery of the arrangement that has long existed in the senatorial district, pointing out that the peaceful co-existence of the people cannot be negotiated for a self centred individual.

Olusunle disclosed that he will be contesting for the Kogi West Senatorial District seat at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly come 2015 under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), adding that Yagba East as the only local government that has not produced a Senator has more than enough credible individuals that could render selfless and veritable representation to the people at the national level.

According to him, the issue of rotational arrangement in Okun land especially is not alien, “it is a known fact that whenever Isanlu where I come from produces the Chairman, Oke Oyi will produce the Assembly member, and it has been on like that for years, even at Councillorship level, it is being rotated between communities which make up the Ward.

“So coming to the Senatorial Level, Senator Tunde Ogbeha was there for two terms which is for Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, while the incumbent Senator that would complete his second term in 2015 represents Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency and it is expected that Yagba Federal Constituency would step in to round up their own in 2023 before it goes back to Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency.”

He commended the good people of Ogidi community for the successful hosting of this year’s Yam festival cum Annual Day that afforded them to celebrate their rich cultural heritages, noting that the caliber of personalities that graced the occasion showed the importance of the community.
